Went over to Best Buy to get some footage of the DJ Hero Demo. [Video Below]
Would like to start off with the fact that I agree with Activions' Milking of franchises but i will put that aside for my impressions.
The game plays pretty similar to how you would think it plays.
Put a Guitar on your lap and just tap away. if you can do that, you can play DJ Hero.
However there is a little more to the game then that. there is a cross fader bar that will either shift the green to the left, or the blue to the right. Timing is VERY strict for this and will break many combo's.
Other Features,
Scratching: If it looks like random zig-zagging on a sustained note, hold the note and just move the record up and down to the beat, However if it has arrows, must be "scratched" in the same direction.
Sound Effects: Not sure exactly what its called but theres a little knob that changes what sound is made, the Red section will just show a think long line in which pressing the Red button will make sound effect of your choice. Not sure what this is for but it's in there.
Rewinding: Alot harder than it seems. if you keep your combo going on long enough you will earn a rewing, spin the record back to rewind the track and replay parts of the song for extra points(watch me fail at this multiple times during the video)
Score Multiplier: Not done at all like any other music games. Instead of focusing on your note combo, its based solely on how long you have played without messing up, Great to build your multiplier back up during a quiet part.
Peripheral: Felt nice actually, didnt feel like it would break easily (its a stationary object how would it really break?) The record spins VERY smoothly, and the cross fader bar has a very faint click when in the middle position to help you get back (a spring loading fader would have been nicer)
Euphoria: Just think Star Power and Overdrive and you got it. Activated by big black button above cross fader switch.
